This ten day intensive explores experimental approaches to voice and movement and will focus on breath and gravity alignment, the articulation of physical and psychical states in performance and somatic vocalisation in order to develop a textural approach to contemporary performance.

Guillermo Luis Horta Betancourt is a Cuban based dance artist with a 40 year history of facilitating integrated experimental voice and movement. His work is globally celebrated through VABAS (voice+awareness+body=awakening+synchronisation), and he has taught and performed extensively in Korea, Japan, Cuba, Mexico, India and the UK. Guillermo's approach is focused on the integration of rhythmic training, release based movement and somatic awareness. This workshop will centre on breath and gravity alignment, the articulation of physical and psychical states in performance and somatic vocalisation. Suitable for movement and voice based artists.

Joan Laage - Embodying the spirit

This workshop will introduce principles of US based Laage's button philosophy and aesthetics, exploring the reduction of the physical body and ego-self.

The workshop structure will incorporate explorations of the elemental and ethereal body, while integrating applied imagery and improvisational approaches within facilitated solo and grow tasks.

Sayoko Onishi (Sicily/Japan) combines new and traditional butoh methods and incorporates elements of Chi Gong within a rigorous training. 

Her workshop will explore dynamic movements based on imagery and isolated energy states.
